Hand in Hand Story
Hand in Hand is a volunteer organization based in San Diego that supports individuals with disabilities within the Korean community. This year marks our 15th anniversary, a significant milestone that reflects the dedication and impact of our volunteers, participants, and supporters. Our mission is to create a safe and nurturing environment where individuals with disabilities can learn, grow, and connect through meaningful activities and social interactions.
Every Saturday, we offer a variety of programs tailored to the needs of children and young adults with developmental disabilities. These programs include art, music, dance, Taekwondo, creative crafts, handbell classes, writing, park walks, museum visits, and even tap dancing. One of the highlights of our organization is the strong bond formed between the participants and the volunteers, fostering a sense of community, joy, and belonging for everyone involved.
Hand in Hand wouldn’t be possible without the passionate dedication of our volunteers. High school students and adults alike are welcome to join us as we work together to provide a safe space for participants to express themselves and explore their interests. Whether it’s leading a class, assisting with activities, or simply being a supportive presence, our volunteers are at the heart of what makes Hand in Hand special.
We are proud to partner with the Korean United Methodist Church of San Diego, which provides us with a warm and welcoming space to host our activities. Together, we aim to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families.
This year, as we celebrate 15 years of service, we look forward to continuing our mission of fostering joy, connection, and inclusion within our community.
